Against the Odds

This is one of a series of paintings that I completed, following a road trip through remote South Australia and to Cooper Pedy. I was amazed at this tree, growing on a ridge, showing its twisted trunk and branches as a result of the wind and storms over many years. Even though I painted this tree with no leaves, it was alive and demonstrates the resilience and strength of life in remote, harsh landscapes.
